Folklife Collection - Local Legends: The Apron Lady

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents in 1973, former Salisbury University students Tisha Phillips and Imogene Townsend collected local legends. For this collection, these stories tell of the apron woman from Sharptown, Maryland. It was said this woman who wore only an apron and hip boots, would carry the ashes of her dead husband around with her in pockets. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
